About this church

What We Believe

St. Luke's is a Christian congregation. We believe that Jesus Christ is the revelation of God's love set forth in the Scriptures. The doors of St. Luke's are open to all without regard to age, race, gender, HIV status or sexual orientation.

All people, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and heterosexual are invited to new life through the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ in St. Lukeís. St. Lukeís puts its faith into action by creating a community of healing and reconciliation, and by confronting the injustices of homophobia, sexism, racism and poverty through Christian social action.

St. Luke's welcomes everyone and provides inspirational worship services, Christian education and other activities to equip, empower, and encourage each person as together we build a community of healing and reconciliation through faith, hope and love.

Worship at St. Luke's is a celebration.

There is more than just a gathering of people singing hymns and receiving communion.

At St. Luke's, everyone is considered a member of the family, even if you have come to worship with us for the first time. We experience and share the glory of God through a mixture of Christian traditions.

We open with praise music, focusing the reason we have gathered, to praise God. There also are familiar hymns sung. Everyone is offered the opportunity to experience God's love and encouragement through humorous, yet challenging sermons. Communion is administered to couples, family, friends and individuals. Prayers are individually offered.

Our entire worship service is projected on a screen just above the altar area. Sometimes a movie clip, sermon points or quotes are projectd so you don't miss anything. COME and be a part of our celebration!

About UFMCC,
the Universal Fellowship
of Metropolitan Community Churches
Our Parent Church

UFMCC Statement of Faith:

This is the simple declaration of what MCC believes, as stated in our By-Laws, and accepted by our General Conference:

Christianity is the revelation of God in Jesus Christ and is the religion set forth in the scriptures. Jesus Christ is foretold in the Old Testament, presented in the New Testament, and proclaimed by the Christian Church in every age and in every land.

Founded in the interest of offering a church home to all who confess and believe, Metropolitan Community Churches moves in the mainstream of Christianity.

Our faith is based upon the principles outlined in the historic creeds: Apostles and Nicene.

We believe:

-In one triune God, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, of one substance and of three persons: God - our Parent-Creator; Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God, God in flesh, human; and the Holy Spirit - God as our Sustainer.

-That the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, showing forth God to every person through the law and the prophets, and finally, completely and ultimately on earth in the being of Jesus Christ.

-That Jesus...the Christ...historically recorded as living some 2,000 years before this writing, is God incarnate, of human birth, fully God and fully human, and that by being one with God, Jesus has demonstrated once and forever that all people are likewise Children of God, being spiritually made in God's image.

-That the Holy Spirit is God making known God's love and interest to all people. The Holy Spirit is God, available to and working through all who are willing to place their welfare in God's keeping.

-Every person is justified by grace to God through faith in Jesus Christ
