SUE BIRKS (Member At-Large, Board of Directors) has attended St. Luke’s since 1978 and has been a member of St. Luke’s since 1992. 

The Birks Family retired in 1991 and moved from Iowa to Florida to live closer to their son, who also lives in Jacksonville and is a member of St. Luke’s.  Sue was recently widowed in February of 2007 after 59 years of marriage. 

Sue worked as a Dietary Supervisor for nearly 25 years.  She has been an active and vocal supporter of the GLBT community for many years.  Sue has a strong volunteer relationship with PFLAG; serving as President for 2 terms (each 2 years) and Vice President for many years.  She is currently serving a term as Vice President. She was also on St. Luke's Pastoral Search Committee.

Sue enjoys giving her time and talents to Saint Luke's through participating in worship ministry as a holder, an usher, and a greeter.  She has also sung in the Choir.  Sue volunteers weekly at the Trinity Lutheran Church food pantry as part of St. Luke’s food pantry ministry.
