Weddings & Holy Unions

In the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, we perform both legal Weddings for male/female couples as well as UFMCC recognized Holy Unions for same-gender couples.  Both Rites represent the spiritual joining of two persons in a fitting manner by a duly authorized clergy person.  Both are services of celebration and serve as a time for asking God's blessing on your relationship, as well as an opportunity for family and friends to witness and share in your vows of commitment to one another.  Please note:  At the present time, only marriages between opposite-gender couples are legally recognized by the State of Florida.

Things to Consider

  • A couple must be in a relationship for a minimum of six (6) months prior planning your service with St. Luke's Metropolitan Community Church.
  • A minimum of one interview meeting with the couple is required a minimum of one week in advance of the ceremony.
  • The date of the Holy Union / Matrimony must be provided in advance due to the schedules of the church and the pastor. (A $50.00 deposit is required to hold your date.)
  • St. Luke's MCC offers a chemical-free and scent-free environment. There is a designated smoking area. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted anywhere on the grounds. Also, due to the nature of increasingly asthmatic conditions, we ask if at all possible, to have your event scent-free.
  • All rooms must be returned to their original state. All chairs and table put back. All trash taken to the dumpster, and cleaning must be done as necessary.
  • You may use your own singers, accompanist, photographers, bakers, decorators, florists, ASL interpreters, etc.        Consult the church office for a list of additional vendors.
  • It is possible to arrange to have a Holy Union / Matrimony at other venues or locations for an additional fee.
  • You may consider having security during your ceremony.  St. Luke's MCC is not responsible for any damages incurred, but will gladly furnish you with security information.

A variety of ceremonies are available. Our clergy seek to make your ceremony a personal reflection of your relationship. Therefore we offer the opportunity to have your ceremony tailored to your expressions of love and faith. These links show some examples of service text.

• Fees are subject to change without notice.
• A cancellation fee of $50.00 or 20% may be imposed.
• All fees are to be paid in full no later than 72 hours prior to ceremony.

*An additional $50 honorarium applies to ceremonies held “off-site” (i.e., not on St. Luke’s MCC property).

*An additional $100 honorarium applies during the following holiday periods:  between Christmas & New Year's, Valentine's Day, Holy Week (Palm Sunday through Easter), Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th, Labor Day weekend, and Thanksgiving weekend.  (The latter additional fee has become necessary due to the high volume of requests during holiday  periods.)
